I love quotes...good quotes.
Today I came across some good quotes by Mother Theresa.
You are likely wondering what this has to do with storytelling.
Good question. I suppose it depends on the quote or on your reason for telling stories.
Many of Mother Theresa's quotes are great for starting or ending a storytelling session about Peace or Compassion or Diversity or Love or....well the list could go on and on.
Or you might tell the story of Mother Theresa's life to children of almost any age using her own words (quotes) to make it more personal.
Think about it while you read these quotes.
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong
to each other.
Mother Teresa
Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to
that person, a beautiful thing.
Mother Teresa
Peace begins with a smile.
Mother Teresa
Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the
beginning of love.
Mother Teresa
We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.
Mother Teresa
The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather
the feeling of being unwanted.
Mother Teresa
There must be a reason why some people can afford to live well.
They must have worked for it. I only feel angry when I see waste.
When I see people throwing away things that we could use.
Mother Teresa
We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the
ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little,we are now
qualified to do anything with nothing.
Mother Teresa
There are no great things, only small things with great love. Happy are those.
Mother Teresa
It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to
love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve
hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved
in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our
love for each other must start.
Mother Teresa
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can
be no more hurt, only more love.
Mother Teresa
Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.
Mother Teresa
We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless.
The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest
poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.
Mother Teresa
Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for
greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children
have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for
each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world.
Mother Teresa
I hope you have enjoyed these little bits of wisdom from Mother Theresa.
Remember to SMILE!!
Love, Laughter, Peace and Blessings to you all!

The Storyteller’s Creed
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge,
That myth is more potent than history,
That dreams are more powerful than facts,
That hope always triumphs over experience,
That laughter is the only cure for grief,
And I believe that love is stronger than death.
—Robert Fulghum
There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you. —Maya Angelou
A song ain’t nothin’ in the world but a story just wrote with music to it. —Hank Williams, Sr.
Stories are the single most powerful weapon in a leader’s arsenal.
—Howard Gardner, Harvard University
Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale of all. —Hans Christian Andersen
The universe is made of stories, not atoms. —Muriel Rukeyser
It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story. —Native American saying
The story was the bushman’s most sacred possession.
These people knew what we do not; that without a story you have not got a nation, or culture, or civilization.
Without a story of your own, you haven’t got a life of your own.
—Laurens Van der Post
